The Satay Kajang Gallery in Kajang, possibly the first in the world, is officially open on March 26, 2009. Visitors from near and far flock to Kajang for its skewered meat barbecued over a charcoal grill. The RM1.4mil gallery in Jalan Kelab was first conceptualised as a museum in 1998. It was later announced that the museum would complement the riverine park idea mooted in 2001. After hitting snags in 2002 and in 2005, the gallery is now open. Within the mini-complex located next to the Medan Sate Kajang are artifacts, information panels, audiovisual guides and dioramas tracing the history of satay in Kajang back to 1917.
