Fraser’s Hill Sri Berkat Rest House : A Paradise on Earth

Fraser’s Hill straddles the Selangor-Pahang border. While most parts of this hill town are located in Pahang, the steep road from The Gap to the clock tower is situated in Selangor. Rich in montane flora and fauna, some 30 square kilometres of Fraser’s Hill had been gazetted by the Selangor state government in 1922 as wildlife reserve. In 1957, the Pahang state government also gazetted the adjacent 20 square kilometres for conservation purpose.

Sri Berkat Rest House, is located only 1 kilometre from the clock tower. Built in 1926, Sri Berkat Rest House is a colonial-style mansion. Its main door faces a large open lawn. Located at the back is a Chinese vernacular school, which caters to only one student currently. At the side are lush shrubs and ferns. The yard is planted with beautiful flowers, such as glory bush, rhododendron, devil’s trumpets, desert petunia, hibiscus, etc. Flowers blossom gloriously under the skillful hands of the gardener and the highland climate.

A silent retreat for reflection

A vacation in Fraser’s Hill offers meals and time for rest. Therefore, visitors will have ample time to appreciate its flora and fauna at a leisurely pace. Fraser’s Hill is sparsely populated, the climate is pleasant and life here takes a slower pace. Abounds in flora and fauna, Fraser’s Hill is indeed a paradise on earth. Perhaps Fraser’s Hill is a place where one can truly experience the serenity and pursue frugality.
