PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, 29 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Tourism Selangor is strengthening its presence in the Cambodian market through the Surprising Selangor: Asia 2026 Sales & Networking Programme – Series 2: Cambodia, held from 28 September to 2 October 2026 in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, in conjunction with the Tourism Malaysia B2B & Networking Programme 2026. The initiative forms part of Tourism Selangor’s ongoing efforts to promote the state’s tourism offerings internationally while building momentum towards Visit Selangor Year 2026 (VSY2026).
Led by Puan Chua Yee Ling, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor, the programme serves as a strategic platform to engage with Cambodian travel trade partners, tour operators, tourism stakeholders and media representatives. Through business-to-business (B2B) sessions, networking engagements and destination presentations, Tourism Selangor aims to strengthen industry partnerships and explore new opportunities to promote Selangor as a preferred destination for Cambodian travellers.
The programme is part of Tourism Selangor’s broader strategy to expand its reach within the Asian market and introduce a diverse range of tourism products and experiences available in the state. Particular emphasis is given to niche segments that align with the interests of Cambodian travellers, including medical tourism, theme parks, shopping and family-friendly experiences.
Speaking during the programme, Puan Chua Yee Ling highlighted Selangor’s unique appeal as a destination that offers visitors an extensive variety of experiences within a single state.
“Many international travellers arrive in Selangor because it is home to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, but what truly surprises them is what they discover after they arrive. From vibrant cities and multicultural heritage to shopping, gastronomy, nature attractions and world-class healthcare, Selangor offers something for every type of traveller. Through Visit Selangor Year 2026, we look forward to welcoming more visitors from Cambodia and strengthening tourism ties between our two destinations.”
The programme also provides an opportunity for Tourism Selangor to showcase emerging tourism products and attractions while gaining valuable insights into the preferences and travel trends of Cambodian consumers. In addition, networking sessions with industry players and representatives from Tourism Malaysia Cambodia are expected to facilitate future collaborations, joint promotional efforts and the development of travel packages that highlight Selangor’s tourism offerings.
As part of Visit Selangor Year 2026, the state aims to welcome 9 million visitors and generate approximately RM11.7 billion in tourism receipts through a diverse calendar of events, festivals, sporting activities, cultural experiences and tourism promotion initiatives. Cambodia remains an important market within Tourism Selangor’s regional growth strategy, particularly in segments such as medical tourism, shopping tourism and family travel.
Through initiatives such as the Surprising Selangor: Asia 2026 Sales & Networking Programme, Tourism Selangor continues to strengthen its international market presence and position Selangor as a vibrant, accessible and diverse destination for travellers seeking memorable experiences in Malaysia.
