Sabak Bernam, 25 April 2026 — Festival Sawah Padi Sekinchan 2026 returns with a refreshed and dynamic concept, further strengthening Selangor’s position as a leading agro-tourism destination. The festival was officially launched by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor, alongside YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Selangor’s EXCO of Local Government and Tourism. Organised by Tourism Selangor with the support of various government agencies and private sector partners, the festival has become an iconic annual event in Sabak Bernam and continues to showcase the unique charm of Sekinchan’s agricultural landscape.
In his speech, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari emphasised that the festival plays a significant role in strengthening Selangor’s agro-tourism segment while supporting local communities, noting that it aligns with the Sabak Bernam Development Area (SABDA) initiative to develop sustainable agro-based economies and enhance livelihoods.
“Despite current global economic challenges, Selangor remains committed to ensuring economic resilience by encouraging domestic tourism. Moving forward, under the Selangor Second Plan, the state aims to further enhance economic growth, infrastructure development, mobility and overall public well-being through inclusive and sustainable strategies”, he added.
This year’s edition introduces a new evening-to-night concept, in line with evolving tourism trends that emphasise immersive night-time experiences. Visitors are given the opportunity to enjoy the stunning sunset views over Sekinchan’s paddy fields, widely recognised as one of the district’s most captivating natural attractions, before taking part in a diverse range of activities that extend into the night.
The festival also reflects strong collaboration among stakeholders, including Sabak Bernam Municipal Council, PLATS Selangor, Selangor Four Wheel Drive Association, Shell Malaysia, Zus Coffee and few others, demonstrating a united effort in advancing Selangor’s tourism industry.
Among the key highlights of the festival is the Larian Sawah Padi, which has attracted over 1,000 participants this year, offering a unique running experience through scenic paddy fields during sunset. In addition, a food festival featuring more than 35 vendors under PLATS Selangor presents a wide variety of local culinary offerings, catering to the growing preference for relaxed and “healing”-themed experiences.
Visitors can also enjoy a host of engaging activities such as outdoor movie screenings, guided tours around Sekinchan, complimentary tram and Hop-On Hop-Off bus services, health screenings, traditional games, concerts, podcast sessions, voluntourism programmes and lucky draws, making it an inclusive and family-friendly event.
Festival Sawah Padi Sekinchan 2026 is expected to attract approximately 15,000 visitors, including both local and international tourists, reinforcing Sekinchan’s reputation as a must-visit destination.
