Hulu Langat, Selangor, 30 March 2026 – Puncak Ampang Look Out Point (Puncak ALOP) has officially reopened after undergoing a comprehensive maintenance and redevelopment process, emerging as a modern, safe and well-organised ecotourism destination in the State of Selangor.
YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, the Chief Minister of Selangor, in a statement said that the reopening reflects the Selangor State Government’s continued commitment to strengthening the tourism sector as a whole, including in high-potential areas such as Hulu Langat, which is known for its natural beauty despite its proximity to urban areas.
“The reopening is expected to generate positive spillover effects on the local economy by creating business opportunities for small traders and local vendors. With more organised retail facilities, the development will also stimulate the tourism ecosystem in the surrounding areas,” he added.
Puncak ALOP now stands as a strategic location or stop centre, offering attractive panoramic views as well as a relaxing experience for visitors from all walks of life. The area is also gaining popularity as a night-time activity spot, particularly among youths and as a preferred destination for the cycling community.
YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Selangor’s EXCO for Local Government and Tourism, in a statement said that the redevelopment project of Puncak ALOP is fully funded by the private sector, namely Pearl Holiday (M) Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd. Phase one, which has been completed, involved an investment of RM10 million, while the overall project, which began in 2025 and is expected to be fully completed by 2027, involves a total investment of approximately RM25 million.
“For the next phase, the development will include additional facilities such as camping sites, caravan areas and the construction of an iconic observation tower, which is expected to be completed by 2027, further strengthening Puncak ALOP’s position as a key tourism destination in the state,” he added.
The success of this development is the result of close collaboration between various parties including the Selangor State Government, Tourism Selangor, Kajang Municipal Council, the Selangor Forestry Department as well as the private sector. This strategic collaboration is seen as an important catalyst in ensuring sustainable and competitive tourism development.
At the same time, the reopening of Puncak ALOP is in line with efforts to support the Visit Selangor Year campaign and Visit Malaysia Year 2026. The State of Selangor previously recorded more than 8 million tourist arrivals and is targeting an increase to 9 million tourists this year.
Puncak ALOP has also obtained its operating license, ensuring that safety, regulatory compliance and visitor comfort remain a priority.
