INSPIRES YOUTH WITH HANDS-ON TOURISM EDUCATION
SELANGOR, 16 AUGUST 2024 – Tourism Selangor has taken a significant step in bridging the gap between education and the tourism industry with the recent launch of the “Squad Kembara Pusing Selangor Dulu”. This initiative is designed to provide students with early exposure to the tourism sector, encouraging them to explore career opportunities in one of Malaysia’s key industries.
The initiative kicked off at the Management Science University (MSU) in collaboration with the School of Tourism, where students had the opportunity to learn about the diverse facets of the tourism industry. The programme received overwhelming support from several notable tourism product operators, including Gamuda Play, Selangor Fruit Valley, Farm in the City, Farm Fresh, Gua Damai Extreme Park, Hiker Climber Adventure, Bangi Wonderland, Sky Mirror, GM Klang, GL Play, Chocolate Museum and many others.
Building on this momentum, Tourism Selangor expanded its reach to SMK Taman Melawati in Gombak. In partnership with Tourism Malaysia, the Squad Kembara Pusing Selangor Dulu was further enhanced by exposing the students to the Students Tourism Programme Club (K3P), involving over 300 students during the school’s Career Day. This initiative aims to inspire students to consider tourism as a viable and rewarding career path.
Tourism Selangor also collaborated with SMK Bukit Changgang in Kuala Langat as part of the Kuala Langat Career Aspiration (AsKUL) programme. This partnership provided students with hands-on experience and insight into the tourism industry, highlighting the potential career opportunities available within Selangor. A total of 2,000 students from 18 schools from all over the Kuala Langat District have been involved in making the Squad Kembara Pusing Selangor Dulu programme a success.
Looking ahead, Tourism Selangor plans to continue the Squad Kembara Pusing Selangor Dulu initiative by expanding to schools in suburban areas. The goal is to ensure that students across the state are given the chance to explore the exciting world of tourism, with the continued support of Selangor’s leading tourism product operators.
