Ampang, 17 July 2025 — In appreciation of the strong support from the media members and social media influencers, Tourism Selangor hosted a special Media & Influencers Hi-Tea today at Tamarind Springs, Ampang, gathering over 100 media practitioners and social media influencers from across the country.
The event was graced by YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Local Government and Tourism, and Ms. Chua Yee Ling, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor, alongside strategic tourism partners and government agencies; Tourism Malaysia, Perbadanan Adat Melayu dan Warisan Selangor, MBI, AVIS, Farm Fresh, Selangor Fruit Valley and more.
YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, in a statement, said Selangor continues to be the top domestic destination in Malaysia, recording 34.5 million local visitors in 2024, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM). This momentum is largely supported by our strong relationship with the media and content creators, who are instrumental in telling Selangor’s tourism story.“As of March 2025, Selangor also has recorded 1.77 million tourist arrivals, 22% of its annual target of which 72% are domestic travellers and 28% international, mainly from China (19%), Singapore (12%), Indonesia (6%), Japan (5%), and India (5%). The state targets 8 million tourist arrivals in 2025 with an expected tourism receipt of RM11.2 billion”, he added.
Chua Yee Ling the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor also announced the much-anticipated Selangor Travel Fair 2025, which will serve as the main highlight of the Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign. The two-day event will take place at Central Market Kuala Lumpur on 26 & 27 July 2025, with an expected turnout of 30,000 visitors.
“The Selangor Travel Fair will feature over 30 tourism exhibitors, cultural showcases, interactive workshops, Selangor crafts and SMEs, a live podcast by Media Selangor, and a spectacular ‘Surprising Selangor’ concert featuring Aizat Amdan, Lah Ahmad, and PADAT,” said Chua.
The fair will also mark the official launch of the “Selangor Kan Ada!” campaign video and theme song, in line with the state’s domestic tourism push. The campaign aims to uncover the hidden gems across Selangor’s nine districts and position the state as a must-visit destination leading into Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
In addition to event highlights, Tourism Selangor also shared updates on the Visit Selangor Year Tourism Grant (Phase 2), which opened for application on 1 July until 31 October 2025, with a total allocation of RM300,000.
The Hi-Tea also featured a networking session and authentic Thai cuisine by Tamarind Springs, along with interactive activities such as batik canting, flower tag DIY, succulent planting, and a food review segment.
Tourism Selangor reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with media and influencers as key partners in shaping Selangor’s tourism narrative as the Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign reaches its halfway mark.
