SELANGOR STRENGTHENING TIES WITH CHINA TO BOOST INTERNATIONAL TOURIST INFLUX
Tourism Selangor Officiates Collaboration with Acmar Marketing in Xiamen, China
SELANGOR, 24 May 2024 — For the third consecutive year, the State of Selangor has seen a significant increase in tourists from China, outperforming other Southeast Asian markets. In 2023, Selangor welcomed 352,001 Chinese tourists marking a 73% increase from 203,615 visitors in 2022. Building on this impressive growth, Selangor is intensifying its promotional strategies with a targeted sales mission in Xiamen, China, from 24th to 26th of May 2024.
Led by Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, the Executive Council Member for Local Government and Tourism, the delegations from Tourism Selangor has embarked on a sales mission in China for the second series this year in Xiamen and attended the 19th Strait Travel Fair and 9th China (Xiamen) International Leisure Tourism Expo 2024. This mission provides a platform for tourism product operators from Selangor to showcase their tourism offerings and tap into China’s vast market potential.
The Honourable Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, the EXCO of Local Government and Tourism in a statement said, as we gear up for the Visit Selangor Year 2025, our second visit to China thi year solidifies our official collaboration with Acmar Marketing through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. This partnership is anticipated to pave the way for cross promotional initiatives including Familiarisation Trips, content promotion and Business to Business (B2B) programme opportunities.
Given that theme parks are a major draw for tourists from China, Tourism Selangor has highlighted several key attractions including Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, SplashMania Water Theme Park and FunPark @ Gamuda Luge Garden. Additionally, for those interested in ecotourism and agrotourism notable attractions such as Sky Mirror and Sekinchan have been showcased to prospective buyers and travel agents in China.
In line with the Selangor’s tourism promotional campaign, “Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!”, the State of Selangor welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with international agencies and travel agents to increase business opportunities, especially towards the Visit Selangor Year 2025 and reaching the targets of 7 million tourists influx by next year.
