XIAMEN, CHINA, 18th May 2025– The Selangor State Government, through Tourism Selangor, has participated in the 10th China (Xiamen) International Leisure Tourism Expo 2025, a global tourism exhibition. Held from 16th to 18th May 2025 at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Centre, the event gathered the global tourism industry and provided Selangor with direct access to an estimated market of 6 million residents in Xiamen. The year 2025 also marks the 10th anniversary of CILTE alongside the 20th anniversary of the Strait Travel Fair (STF), making this exhibition even more significant.
As a strategic initiative in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2025 to broaden international tourism promotion, Tourism Selangor also looking forward to collaborate with Online Travel Agencies such as Klook and Trip.com, as well as the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), to develop and promote attractive tourism packages in Selangor including exclusive offers such as the Durian Trip and nature-based tourism.
Tourism Selangor also participated in Business-to-Business (B2B) sessions and courtesy visits to local government agencies in Xiamen to strengthen bilateral cooperation and support in achieving the tourism goals. These efforts are further supported with 730 direct flights annually between Kuala Lumpur and Xiamen, operated by Xiamen Airlines; 156 direct flights by Malaysia Airlines and 208 direct flights by Batik Air Malaysia, providing logistical advantages and opening new pathways for tourist arrivals in Selangor.
This participation not only strengthens Selangor’s position as an international tourism destination, but also reflects the state’s aggressive and inclusive approach in expanding its tourism presence in the East Asian region, in line with the goals of Visit Selangor Year 2025.
