STRENGTHEN SELANGOR’S VISION IN CRUISE TOURISM
Tourism Selangor menyertai Seatrade Cruise Global 2023
SELANGOR, 6th April 2023 – Tourism Selangor, the Official Tourism Promotion Agency for the State of Selangor, Malaysia gets on board for the Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 under the umbrella of Tourism Malaysia Los Angeles from 27th March to 30th March in Florida.
Led by the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor, Azrul Shah Mohamad, alongside Tourism Selangor officers, the delegation participated in the Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 along with other 500 exhibitors, with a mission to strengthen the State’s cruise tourism segmentation and bring together the visionaries, experts and thousands of like-minded cruise professionals.
Framed beneath the theme “Forward Momentum”, Tourism Selangor is determined to tap into the cruise tourism that poses a high potential in contributing towards an influx of tourists to Selangor. With the collaboration between Tourism Selangor and Tourism Malaysia, it is much anticipated that there will be more cross-promotion series, FAM Trips, sales missions, and digital and advertising campaigns to be held with participating countries.
According to Michele Paige, the President of the Florida-Carribean Cruise Association (FCCA), “Further Momentum” perfectly encapsulates both Seatrade Cruise Global and the cruise industry. Throughout adversity, both have proven to be resilient and able not only to overcome difficult times but also to adapt and improve. FCCA looks forward to optimising the event’s opportunities with our destination and Member Line partners to embrace this theme and continue to build back better together.”
The Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor, Azrul Shah Mohamad, in a statement said, through our “Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!” campaign, Selangor will ramp up our effort in participating in a number of international travel and tourism trade shows to elevate our cruise tourism segmentation. In 2022, a total of 141 ships carrying a total of 342,721 passengers sailed to Port Klang Cruise Terminal, which is the largest and busiest port in Malaysia. It is a preferred cruise stop by well-known Cruise Lines such as Genting Dream – Resorts World Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Regal Cruises, Star Cruises and Royal Caribbean International.
The terminal is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities such as air-conditioned buildings, link bridges for embarkation and disembarkation, covered walkways, foreign exchange counters, taxi and bus services, terminal security, and many more. The state of Selangor is convinced, with its unique segmentations; eco-tourism, agro-tourism, theme park, medical tourism, cruise tourism, golf and sports tourism, experiential tourism, cultural and heritage, to shopping and retail experience and splendid attractions; Royal Klang Heritage Walk, Blue Mosque, Pulau Ketam, Mah Meri Cultural Village and Sky Mirror, the state will be able to revamp and continue its pre-pandemic effort in attracting international tourists, especially through the Port Klang Cruise Terminal.
