Muhammad Hisham Abdullah Wins The 4th Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2022
PETALING JAYA – The 4th Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2022, held at Seri Selangor Golf Club in Kota Damansara on the 23rd of July 2022, was won by Muhammad Hisham Abdullah with 41 points. About 132 golfers from all sorts of backgrounds, including international golfers from Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Japan, the United Kingdom, Korea and Singapore, expats, travel agents, interstate and domestic players, celebrities, golfing notables, and representatives from the public and private sectors, took part in this year’s 18-hole inaugural tournament. This golf tournament is held every year in different places as part of the “Pusing Selangor Dulu” tourism initiative.
Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar of Selangor, was also there and ran the “Tee Off” event before the golf tournament started today.Tourism Selangor has made numerous improvements to this year’s golf tournament, including the introduction of the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ campaign, the preparation of the Tournament Trophy and Lucky Draw prizes worth RM200,000.00, and the addition of Produa Ativa as prizes for the Hole-In-One category. The Mah Meri indigenous cultural group and the Bale-Bale group both put on cultural shows that made the tournament even more fun.
Y.B. Hee Loy Sian, Selangor State’s Executive Council Member of Tourism and Environment in a statement shared, “This golf tournament journey inspired by the concept of ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’, in which we organise tournaments in different locations each year.
This year, we chose Seri Selangor Golf Club as the official venue for our fourth tournament.
The 4th Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament is also a way to show support for Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ), which is also celebrating its 16th anniversary this year.
With the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ idea, we encourage participants to not only demonstrate their golfing skills, but also visit the tourism sites around the golf course we choose each year. For instance, there are several tourist attractions like the Chocolate Museum in Kota Damansara, Kidzania, The Curve, 1 Utama, and Tropicana Gardens at our event location today.”.
There are an astounding 29 golf clubs in Selangor, several of which are award-winning, and the state has a clear path to optimal sports tourist penetration. Selangor, Malaysia’s leading and premier golf hub, is a popular destination for both local and international golfers looking for a little of adrenaline and excitement on the course, surrounded by lush greenery.
This year, the fourth edition of the golf tournament gained considerable support and sponsorship from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) and SELGATE Corporation, with the intention of enhancing the organization’s brand via Golf Tourism in Selangor.
