SELANGOR, 2 FEBRUARY 2025 – Tourists safety remains a top priority in Selangor’s tourism industry. Tourism Selangor acknowledges the recent incident at SkyCity Theme Park and is committed to ensuring that necessary measures are taken to safeguard the well-being and comfort of all visitors.
Yang Berhormat Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, Selangor’s State Executive Councillor for Local Government and Tourism, emphasised that all tourism operators in Selangor must uphold the highest safety standards. Regarding the recent issue at SkyCity, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has taken appropriate action by issuing several compounds and warning notices to the operators before it was opened to public.
“The Selangor State Government fully supports and entrusts local authorities to take necessary action and ensure that all tourism operators comply with the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). SkyCity is also advised to implement improvements and enhance safety protocols before resuming operations,” he added.
Meanwhile, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor, also stated that the state government will summon the theme park’s management, and operations will be immediately suspended until the operator meets the required safety specifications set by MBSA. The Selangor State Government will also reinforce safety compliance measures for all theme parks in the state.
