SELANGOR ELEVATE BILATERAL TIES WITH TOURISM INDUSTRY PLAYERS IN VIETNAM
SELANGOR, MALAYSIA 27 December 2022 – Tourism Selangor, the Selangor State’s Official Tourism Promotion Agency, held a working visit to Vietnam with a mission to boost Selangor as the ideal travel destination in the Asian region. The visits took place for six days, from 18th December until 23rd December 2022.
The visit was led by the Honourable Mr Hee Loy Sian, the Tourism and Environment Executive Committee and assisted by Mr Azrul Shah bin Mohamad the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor. The working visit showcased a wide range of market segmentation in Selangor while promoting the “Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!” Campaign.
Moving toward 2023, this is the right time for Selangor to resume its pre-pandemic growth. As of 2021, Selangor received a lower tourist inflow from Vietnam, with 6,608 tourists visiting Selangor; due to the multiple travel restrictions applied to curb Covid-19 transmission. Compared to the pre-pandemic time, where tourists arriving from Vietnam were around 27,075.
According to the Honourable Mr Hee Loy Sian, Tourism and Environment Executive Committee, this visit is expected to promote increased awareness of Selangor as an ideal travel destination in Asia and develop more collaboration between tourism operators and tourism industry members in Vietnam.
“With the travel ban lifted, travellers would have smoother journeys to the country. Thanks to the strategic location in Selangor that provide connectedness and accessibility, travellers may easily reach any area in Selangor, with the main entry point to Malaysia consisting of KLIA, KLIA2, Subang Skypark Terminal and Port Klang Cruise Terminal,” said the Honourable Mr Hee Loy Sian, Tourism and Environment Executive Committee of Selangor.
Selangor’s wide range of segmentation provides abundant tourism attractions, from eco-tourism, theme parks, cultural and heritage to splendid shopping and leisure experiences. This includes the Sunway Lagoon theme park, Fireflies Park in Kampung Kuantan, Mah Meri Cultural Village and Avani Sepang Gold Coast Resort.
Tourism Selangor is ready to tap into extensive partnerships with tourism operators and industry players while gearing up its awareness to elevate the mission to be a prominent travel destination in the Asian region.
