TOURISM SELANGOR EMBARKS ON A NEW CHAPTER IN 2023
2023 is approaching and Selangor’s official tourism promotion agency, Tourism Selangor plans to be in the tourism field stronger than ever. With new initiatives all laid out to launch, the state of Selangor will remain its high visitation rate for domestic travel. For the upcoming year, Tourism Selangor has taken various initiatives and aims to empower the state tourism promotional campaign for both domestic and international market, “Nak Bercuti? Pusing Selangor Dulu!” and “Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!”.
Since the reopening of Malaysia’s borders, the tourism sector has started to recover while Selangor remains as the most visited State in Malaysia. As we enter the year 2023, Tourism Selangor plans to further enhance the goal of making the State of Selangor as an ideal destination and increasing tourist arrival, either domestically or internationally.
With an allocation of over RM 114.6 Million has been designated for various economic stimulus by the State of Government such as the Selangor Maritime Gateway, Kita Selangor, tourism grants and the Go Selangor mobile application, it is expected to strengthen the recovery of the tourism sector in Selangor. This will be further supported with an allocation of RM 6 Million through Selangor Budget 2023 to empower the tourism industry.
Azrul Shah Mohamad, the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor in a statement said, in ensuring the State of Selangor to remain resilient, Tourism Selangor will increase its collaboration with experts and tourism key industry players who have access to both innovative business strategies and emerging prospects. The Tourism Selangor Global Convention 2023 will be recommenced, focusing on tourism exhibitions with the Business to Consumer (B2C) concept while elevating Selangor’s tourism profile globally.
“The future planning of Selangor’s tourism development depends heavily on the diversity of segmentations that generate the state’s economic affairs. The image of Selangor relies on different segmentations that are available throughout the state, with distinctive products representing each district. The promotion of eco, medical, cycling, cruise and gastronomy tourism as well as developing the geoparks as national assets, Selangor will potentially become the hub for diverse tourist attractions,” said Azrul Shah Mohamad, the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor.
In moving towards the Tourism 4.0, Tourism Selangor will maintain and further enhance its approach in promoting the tourism attractions in Selangor digitally. Tourism Selangor has successfully diverted 90% of its promotional efforts through digital networks. Not only does these embrace the IR 4.0 effectively, all of these initiatives were also laid out in line with the First Selangor Plan or Rancangan Selangor Pertama (RS-1) in efforts to make Selangor a smart, liveable, and prosperous state by 2025.
With 2022 coming to a close, Tourism Selangor has demonstrated all of its efforts in achieving a balanced development that benefits the state’s economic affairs and the people. As the year goes, Tourism Selangor will strive to explore better opportunities and successfully achieve its goals as the state’s key player in the industry.
